Dr German O. Ramirez-Yañez

Scientific Researcher for MRC

Dr Ramirez

In 2004 I had the opportunity to become a member of the great MRC family, when I was appointed as Chief Scientific Researcher. This allowed me to be in contact and to meet a lot of people around the world who share the dream of communicating Dr. Chris Farrell’s message:

“To treat malocclusions we need first to understand its aetiology, Soft Tissue Dysfunction”.

Dr. German Ramirez is a dentist from Colombia (South America) with more than 20 years of experience in guiding craniofacial growth and
development. He is specialist in Pediatric Dentistry (Mexico) and Functional Maxillofacial Orthopedics (Mexico & Brazil), as well as trained in Orthodontics (Mexico). Dr. Ramirez has a Master in Oral Biology and a PhD in Dental Sciences (Australia). He has published more than 20 articles about early orthodontic treatment and about craniofacial biology in peer review international journals such as the European Journal of
Orthodontics, World Journal of Orthodontics, Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, International Journal of Jaw Function, Journal of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry, Bone and Archives of Oral Biology.

Actually, Dr. Ramirez is the scientific advisor of Myofunctional Research
Co. in Australia and of Osteopharm Inc. in Canada. His research interest is in craniofacial growth and development, the patho-physiology of functional disorders in the cranio-cervico-mandibular system and how the craniofacial structures are modified by functional appliances.

Please let him know if you found this information and the papers available on this site useful and do not hesitate to contact Dr. Ramirez for any doubt that you may have about MRC appliances. He is keen to collaborate with you in getting better and more stable results when treating your patients with MRC appliances.

MRC aims to support our customers giving answer to your enquiries about MRC appliances (TRAINER System™, MYOBRACE System™ and TMJ System™), which will be responded by internationally recognized dentists and researchers, such as Dr. Ramirez.

For those professionals interested in reading about the physiology involved in the modus operandi of functional appliances, Dr. Ramirez invites them to read the papers by Petrovic and Stutzmann published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, about the role of the lateral pterigoid when treating malocclusions with functional appliances, and, the papers by Proffit (Angle Orthod), Kawamura (Bulletin of the Tokyo Dental College), Meyer (Int. J Orofacial Myology)and Niikuni (J. Clinical Pediatric Dentistry) about the physiology of the tongue, as well as Dr. Ramirez' papers, which you may find in the MRC webpage.

My Best Wishes,
Dr. German O. Ramirez-Yañez
